KIYOMIZU Masahiro (KIYOMIZU Rokubey VIII)

Born in 1954, Kyoto
As the eighth-generation head of the historic KIYOMIZU Rokubey family of Kyo-yaki ceramics, established in 1771. Under the name Masahiro, he presents both traditional ceramics and contemporary sculptural works using clay as his primary material. His practice extends to architectural and outdoor installations, with works exhibited internationally.
A traditionally shaped cup with gently undulating contours around the exterior. Finished in a dark glaze, it is accented with layered tones of blue and brown that emerge across the surface.
