Moonlight

This collection features a luminous blue glaze inspired by the rare beauty of a “Blue Moon,” when a second full moon appears within the same month. The plates are conceived as canvases to hold this fleeting moment. The glass glaze transitions from light blue to deeper blue tones, and during firing it forms delicate fracture patterns across the surface. Together, the shifting blues and fine crackled lines give each piece a quiet depth and a distinct character.

  • Atmospheric Blue Surface

The glaze captures a range of blue tones that shift gently across each piece. This variation creates a calm, almost atmospheric quality, reminiscent of light changing across the face of the moon at night.

  • Delicate Crackle Texture

During firing, fine fracture lines naturally form within the glaze, creating a subtle crackle pattern. These lines add individuality, making every piece unique while remaining cohesive and refined.

  • Surface with Depth

The interaction between colour and texture gives the surface a layered quality. Light reflects softly across the glaze, revealing nuance over time and offering a restrained yet expressive visual experience.

From the Moonlight Collection

  • Design

Designed for daily use, these pieces are comfortable, functional, and aesthetically balanced. The minimal, timeless design blends into modern homes while echoing the rich craftsmanship of this ancient Japanese kiln town.

  • Material

Shigaraki clay is known for its warm tones, coarse texture, natural strength, and its ability to form large-scale pieces. We carefully select the most suitable clay from Shigaraki or nearby regions, ensuring its subtle variations give every item a unique presence that ages beautifully.

  • Crafting

Every shape, whether hand-thrown or molded, is created using traditional techniques guided by our experienced artisans. Their meticulous care and the small variations reflecting the maker's hand fill each piece with unique soul and individuality.

  • Firing

Firing in modern and traditional kilns at various temperatures enhances the clay’s texture and glazing effects. Iron spots, gradients, and slight natural warping are authentic signatures, no one piece is exactly the same, adding layers of uniqueness to Shigaraki-ware.
