• SUZUKI Hiroyumi is a Japanese ceramic artist whose work is shaped by a deep respect for ceramic traditions across Japan and Korea, creating pieces informed by his study and experience of these cultures. Born in Sendai, he discovered his passion through a university club in Tokyo. Suzuki demonstrated an early dedication by moving to Korea for a year and a half to train under a ceramic master. This formative experience, where he relentlessly sought apprenticeships and immersed himself in local techniques, added a unique cultural depth and historical perspective to his practice.

Suzuki is committed to creating work that endures for centuries. Since ceramics never return to the earth, he adheres to a "no shortcuts" philosophy, ensuring every piece — from clay preparation to firing — is worthy of its permanence. He crafts sophisticated forms ranging from matcha bowls to functional tableware, or even larger pieces. Suzuki views his work as something to be "grown" by the user, as his pieces gradually shift in character through daily use to become unique, personal artifacts over time.

“Ceramics remain forever once they are fired. I do not want to feel ashamed when someone looks at my work 1,000 years from now, so I make a conscious effort never to cut corners in any part of the process.”
