Paired with the colour, the grainy texture and the circular shape create an illusion of a galaxy. Available in three sizes (S, M, L) and two colors (reddish brown and black) for both bowls and plates, the collection balances structure with organic variation, suitable for both daily use and presentation.

How Oogoya pieces are made

  • Design

    Shigaraki clay is known for its warm tones, coarse texture, natural strength, and its ability to form large-scale pieces. We carefully select the most suitable clay from Shigaraki or nearby regions, ensuring its subtle variations give every item a unique presence that ages beautifully.

  • Crafting

    Every shape, whether hand-thrown or molded, is created using traditional techniques guided by our experienced artisans. Their meticulous care and the small variations reflecting the maker's hand fill each piece with unique soul and individuality.

  • Firing

    Firing in modern and traditional kilns at various temperatures enhances the clay’s texture and glazing effects. Iron spots, gradients, and slight natural warping are authentic signatures, no one piece is exactly the same, adding layers of uniqueness to Shigaraki-ware.
