The medium Granule plate offers a balanced size for everyday dining. It works well for main dishes, shared sides, or composed meals where presentation and practicality meet.
Defined by its textured surface, the plate showcases the natural coarseness of Shigaraki clay alongside the handmade application of glaze. The interplay between texture, color, and circular form creates a restrained yet expressive presence, allowing food to remain the focal point while adding depth to the table.
About Granule
About Granule
Granule is a collection of bowls and plates defined by surface and touch. Each piece features a coarse, granular texture that emphasizes the raw character of Shigaraki clay, while visible strokes in the glaze reveal its handmade process. Paired with the colour, the grainy texture and the circular shape create an illusion of a galaxy.

Care
Care
Unless otherwise noted above, all items can be used following the general guidelines below. These suggestions help ensure the longevity of each piece and maintain its appearance over time.
Dishwasher:
Our items are dishwasher-safe; however, we highly recommend placing them separately and leaving at least one empty slot between pieces. This helps prevent accidental damage caused by high-pressure water or collisions inside the machine.
Microwave:
Most items are microwave-safe. However, please avoid using any piece that includes metal elements (such as gold or silver accents, or Kintsugi repairs involving metal) as they may spark or cause a fire.
Oven:
We do not recommend using any of our items in an oven.

How Oogoya pieces are made
-
Design
Designed for daily use, these pieces are comfortable, functional, and aesthetically balanced. The minimal, timeless design blends into modern homes while echoing the rich craftsmanship of this ancient Japanese kiln town.
-
Material
Shigaraki clay is known for its warm tones, coarse texture, natural strength, and its ability to form large-scale pieces. We carefully select the most suitable clay from Shigaraki or nearby regions, ensuring its subtle variations give every item a unique presence that ages beautifully.
-
Crafting
Every shape, whether hand-thrown or molded, is created using traditional techniques guided by our experienced artisans. Their meticulous care and the small variations reflecting the maker's hand fill each piece with unique soul and individuality.
-
Firing
Firing in modern and traditional kilns at various temperatures enhances the clay’s texture and glazing effects. Iron spots, gradients, and slight natural warping are authentic signatures, no one piece is exactly the same, adding layers of uniqueness to Shigaraki-ware.
