Glass Artisan
Born in 1952, Tokyo
Deeply committed to volcanic kōkaseki stone formed by the volcanic activity in his home town, Niijima, Tokyo, NODA Osamu founded the Niijima Glass Art Center. The rare volcanic rock produces a transparent olive hue, resulting in naturally colored glass with a distinctive presence. Working across diverse techniques, he creates both sculptural works and functional objects, and is a leading figure in Niijima glass.
