SANO Yoko
Glass Artisan
Born in 1962, Tokyo
After working at the Notojima Glass Studio, SANO Yoko co-founded Glass Studio SANOSANO with her husband Takeshi in 1998. Her work is distinguished by the luminous transparency unique to glass and by a distinctive technique of layering colored glass in fine strands, much like spinning thread. These overlapping layers create textile-like textures and intricate, sensorial compositions of remarkable delicacy.
This glass sakazuki combines transparent and opaque elements. An opaque, concave rim transitions into a tilted circular layer within the clear body, creating a quiet contrast in tone and depth.
