TAKAISHI Jiro
Ceramicist
Born in 1957, Fukuoka
TAKAISHI Jiro continuously explores diverse modes of expression, from avant-garde sculptural objects reminiscent of modern art to vessels that evoke the earthy scent of clay, and delicately colored works of refined elegance. His inquisitive spirit gives rise to new experiments and subtly humorous forms, constructing a uniquely personal world. Alongside his artistic practice, he has devoted himself to education and currently serves as Professor at Joetsu University of Education.
His ceramic cup resembles a small wine glass, with a rounded bowl set on a stem and flat base. Subtle embossed and recessed patterns appear across the surface, adding subtle texture.
