TAKIGUCHI Kazuo
Ceramicist
Born in 1953, Kyoto
Born into a ceramic wholesaler family in Gojozaka, Kyoto, TAKIGUCHI Kazuo studied ceramics at Kyoto City University of Arts. He is widely known for works created using the te-bineri (hand-building) technique. From functional vessels to sculptural objects, his pieces are marked by playfulness and a lively sense of form, earning him broad popularity.
His contribution is a ceramic sakazuki glazed in soft grey, accented with darker linear patterns. The rim and foot reveal the natural clay body, while small firing marks add subtle variation to the surface.
