A small plate in its simplest form, left unglazed to reveal the natural clay texture. The surface carries subtle marks from the firing process.

Artist

TANAKA Keiji is a Japanese pottery artist dedicated to the rugged beauty of Nanban Yakishime. He commits to traditional, physically-demanding methods, from digging clay from local sites, to using a kick wheel (kero-kuro) and firing exclusively in a wood-burning kiln. He embraces the raw characteristics of the earth, and the unpredictable interaction between material and flame. Drawing inspiration from ancient Asian antiques and modern sculpture, Tanaka creates functional pieces that highlight a tactile, earthenware-like aesthetic.

Unless otherwise noted above, all items can be used following the general guidelines below. These suggestions help ensure the longevity of each piece and maintain its appearance over time.

Dishwasher:
Our items are dishwasher-safe; however, we highly recommend placing them separately and leaving at least one empty slot between pieces. This helps prevent accidental damage caused by high-pressure water or collisions inside the machine.

Microwave:
Please avoid using any items from the Signature Collections or pieces that include metal elements (such as gold or silver accents, or Kintsugi repairs involving metal) as they may spark or cause a fire.

Oven:
We do not recommend using any of our items in an oven.
